BG Space (bgspace.games) — an online backgammon platform where players compete in real time across six game modes, including classic backgammon and Eastern-European long nardy, with tournaments and player ratings.
Challenge
Real-time two-player gameplay that stays in sync on flaky mobile connections, correct rules for several backgammon variants, and one codebase for web and both stores.
What we built
- Flutter app for Web, iOS and Android from a single codebase.
- NestJS backend with PostgreSQL and Socket.IO for live matches and lobby.
- Player ratings, skill-based matchmaking and tournament brackets.
- Push notifications via FCM.
- Sign-up by email or through a Telegram bot, with account verification.
Result
First full release in 2 months, then six months of continuous iteration on live traffic — new modes, tournaments and rating features shipped without downtime. Live on the web at bgspace.games; iOS and Android apps are in store review. Official online tournament platform of the Ukrainian National Backgammon Federation.
